SUMMARY:Accelerating the SME transition to electric commercial vehicles in the UK
DESCRIPTION:B4NZ and The Federation of Small Businesses are hosting an exclusive roundtable discussion exploring how to accelerate the UK’s transition to electric commercial vehicles and improve the financial incentives available for SMEs to make the switch to zero emissions vans and HGVs. \n  \n\nThis workshop will form part of a series of sessions hosted by B4NZ and the FSB to explore concrete policy solutions to support SME access to green finance in different real economy sectors. This work will support the work of the Net Zero Council’s SME Workstream. \n\nSwitching from a conventional fleet to electric vehicles offers smaller businesses a way to help the planet\, improve their reputation and make significant cost savings. However\, while there has been some progress in e-van availability\, significant barriers to mass uptake from SMEs remain and commercial fleets are still struggling to find vehicles that can meet their range\, charging speed\, payload and price criteria.    \nBringing together industry and policy executives\, this discussion will explore the challenges and opportunities faced by SMEs in financing and accelerating the deployment of electric fleets in the current landscape of rapidly changing technology\, supply-side constraints and economic challenges. As part of these discussions\, we will produce a series of policy recommendations to ease regulatory barriers and accelerate solutions towards increasing SME uptake of electric commercial vehicles. \nRSVP: Spaces are limited. To RSVP\, please register through the Eventbrite link found here. A detailed agenda and supporting briefing note will be shared closer to the time.   \nLocation: Westminster\, in-person and online (hybrid). In-person location will be shared closer to the time.

SUMMARY:Understanding Direct Air Capture & Storage: The key to accelerating the UK's transition to net zero by 2050 Parliamentary Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Bankers for Net Zero and Climeworks will convene parliamentarians\, industry experts and businesses to discuss direct air capture and storage (DAC+S). \nDirect air capture is a key solution to fight climate change and help the UK achieve its 2050 net zero target. \nThe technology captures CO₂ directly from the air – thus reducing the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide and removing historic emissions. Direct air capture\, as part of the carbon removal industry\, has been cited as a trillion-dollar business opportunity. \nThis Parliamentary roundtable will offer an introduction to the technology\, how it fits into the UK’s decarbonisation strategy and why it is so important. \n  \nRSVP: https://B4NZ-Climeworks.eventbrite.com
