SUMMARY:Accelerating the SME transition to electric commercial vehicles in the UK
DESCRIPTION:B4NZ and The Federation of Small Businesses are hosting an exclusive roundtable discussion exploring how to accelerate the UK’s transition to electric commercial vehicles and improve the financial incentives available for SMEs to make the switch to zero emissions vans and HGVs. \n  \n\nThis workshop will form part of a series of sessions hosted by B4NZ and the FSB to explore concrete policy solutions to support SME access to green finance in different real economy sectors. This work will support the work of the Net Zero Council’s SME Workstream. \n\nSwitching from a conventional fleet to electric vehicles offers smaller businesses a way to help the planet\, improve their reputation and make significant cost savings. However\, while there has been some progress in e-van availability\, significant barriers to mass uptake from SMEs remain and commercial fleets are still struggling to find vehicles that can meet their range\, charging speed\, payload and price criteria.    \nBringing together industry and policy executives\, this discussion will explore the challenges and opportunities faced by SMEs in financing and accelerating the deployment of electric fleets in the current landscape of rapidly changing technology\, supply-side constraints and economic challenges. As part of these discussions\, we will produce a series of policy recommendations to ease regulatory barriers and accelerate solutions towards increasing SME uptake of electric commercial vehicles. \nRSVP: Spaces are limited. To RSVP\, please register through the Eventbrite link found here. A detailed agenda and supporting briefing note will be shared closer to the time.   \nLocation: Westminster\, in-person and online (hybrid). In-person location will be shared closer to the time.

SUMMARY:Innovation Zero Congress
DESCRIPTION:Innovation Zero is the platform for action positioned between the policy focused COP events. \nThe programme puts policymakers next to innovators who need the funding to scale up the commercialisation of low carbon solutions so that leaders from public and private sectors can deploy decarbonisation solutions in their supply chains to hit the UK legal target of emissions reductions. \nA critical challenge is unlocking the vast quantity of capital required to enable the transition to a zero-carbon economy. How are the Finance sector working to align capital with net zero outcomes? How will the sector enable clean economic growth and job creation? \nHear from our Chief Executive and Co-Founder Heather Buchanan on the Financing the Transition panel alongside leading investors\, lenders and finance sector leaders as they share their progress in enabling the transformation and their views on the opportunities being created. \nInnovation is the best weapon in the fight against climate change and the event shines the light on new solutions from the Energy\, Transport\, Industrials\, Finance and the Built Environment sectors.

DESCRIPTION:It is our pleasure to invite you to join Bankers for Net Zero\, the UK chapter of UN-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance at its London event – The Just Transition to Net Zero – for an evening of networking and conversation on Thursday 1st December 2022 following COP27. \nPlaces are limited\, please RSVP to b4nz@secnewgate.co.uk \nThe evening will convene the coalition’s high-profile network of public and private sector stakeholders and core delivery partners. Join us for reception drinks and canapés from 5pm before a stimulating schedule of panels begins\, with speakers from British Business Bank\, WWF\, Bankers for Net Zero\, rewired.earth\, and others. \nPanel One\nDelivering a just transition: Enabling UK SMEs to make the transition to net zero\nEngaging SMEs is crucial if we are to hit the UK’s net zero targets\, but often SMEs don’t have the expertise\, resources\, or time to transition to net zero alone. Hear exactly what is needed to enable banks and their SME customers to work together to reach net zero and why a common data language is essential to empower consumers. \nPanel Two \nFinancing Nature: Scaling Nature based solutions in the UK and internationally\nThis panel will be exploring the topic of green finance\, discussing how the UK is developing and implementing innovative financial solutions and what’s needed to scale these solutions\, at pace. \nWe hope you will be able to join us for this event: \nThursday 1st December\, 5pm-8pm \nSEC Newgate UK\n14 Greville Street\nLondon\nEC1N 8SB

SUMMARY:The future of sustainability reporting with Gavin Starks\, Icebreaker One
DESCRIPTION:This event from COP27 will also be live-streamed here.\nOur financial institutions are investing and managing $trillions towards a lower carbon future.  As regulatory and net zero policies increase\, today is the simplest things are going to be. We must address the scalability of trusted\, verifiable and comparable reporting. At the moment global initiatives are pushing towards delivering a lower carbon future but they cannot yet prove that we will actually hit net zero. We need to improve access to data at scale\, to improve its quality\, reliability and assurance to ensure we move away from estimations. \nThis fireside chat with Gavin Starks from Icebreaker One will address the core reporting challenges faced by organisations today and how Icebreaker One are helping deliver Bankers for Net Zero’s new programme of work that will deliver rapidly scalable\, low-effort\, low-friction sustainability reporting for SMEs.
